welding chromoly

Are there any problems welding chromoly to regular steel tubing? I have a mig welder. Read lots of scientific web info on pre and post heating the weld but was wondering peoples real world experience with bike frames. Thanks.

No problem...the info you read had more to do with getting the optimum strength possible out of the material and the joint/weld than anything really practical. Plane and aerospace info more than anything else.

Thanks! I had a feeling that may have been the case but since I am a self taught welder I was not sure.

Always use good ventilation. Chromoly steel gives off dangerous fumes.
