Welding washers?

Does anybody know if I were to weld some washers and use them as bearing hangers, will they be strong?

On go kart jackshafts there are bearing hangers that the bearings seat in

I'm lost also. Don't weld them together, get the right kind of part. Do some back woods stuff and you could ruin more parts and spend more money than on the proper parts

My guess, he is talking about using a jackshaft like a gocart. The "washer" is welded to frame and they use special bearing that fits inside it.

If you don't get the neat kit linked to by cman and you want to grow your own, be mindful to the strength of the washer. Hardened steel type 8 washers would be a safe purchase, and would only set ya back 2 bucks or so.
