Did a bit of traveling today to pick up these rig's that I won off ebay, they guy claimed to have other bike stuff to sell me so I headed out this morning at 10Am for a 200 mile round trip.

One nice original paint skiptooth WF. fork and stem are a little tweaked but otherwise pretty sweet

3 brand new 24" wheels with bendix coasters / stepped rims, I needed a pair of these

Grubee 2 stroke motor tank, throttle, carb, pipe, new chains and a bucket of bolts. one of the mounting brackets on the motor is broken, is this an alumimun case or potmetal?

2 decent front baskets and a nice big rear basket from some kind of trike, filled with lots of stuff.

Long drive but I'm pretty psyched :D

That's funny, you're right about traveling for stuff. But then the next thing you know your neighbor will empty his barn or shed....

Shipping was killer for the two bikes and somehow I managed the free time and the drive didn't look too ugly. I cant remember the last time I bought "big" stuff online because of shipping costs. I brought my 6yr old along and he was a real trooper for the long drive. Of course an ice cream cone helped too.

I think the blue one will be sold, some of the wheels and probably the motor kit. It would be cool to set up the motor but there is just nowhere practical to use one of those around here.

The black/red bike is from 1950-1953, the blue one is from 1944-1946 (probably toward the end of that period as the fork does not have the raised shoulders found on the earliest examples). The serial numbers could help pin them down more closely. The forged, bladed fork on the earlier bike is correct, they were used by several manufacturers and CWC used them on some models.

Thanks Phil, you are the man. I had checked the serial # on the black bike earlier this evening, it's a 53, your powers of divination never cease to amaze. The blue one is marked H85971...

it looks like someone totally stripped the blue bike and repainted it as there is no orig paint underneath. the frame repair looks old, someone brass filled it before color matching the bike to their house.

The 53 has a set of white walls over drop center wheels/morrow hub on it now from a prewar (36-37) Rollfast, I'm sure the style is incorrect, but it was the only skiptooth wheelset i had around. Still need to sort out the fender braces, i think I got them in one of the baskets of Suff.

The stem is bent, as well as the fork, battling the wedge nut this evening.
