Not really sure why but around 11 a.m. this morning I happened to log on craigslist on my phone. I normally don't check it while I'm at work but for some odd reason I did. Well....at 10:53 a.m someone posted an add for a vintage bike. Said he was selling a house and wanted to get rid of what was in the garage. He did describe it as a mid 70's bike..... not really caring for lightweight bikes with gears i wasn't really in a rush to respond (assuming that 70's bikes were all lightweights) This is how the conversation went.

Swing Bikes are very cool! Great project!

my jaw is still on the ground... wow.....

I've seen junkers for as little as $200, and as much as 500. Check out toddhunters posts, he has been listing swingbikes for sale so you can see some asking prices. Rememeber asking prices are just that and actual sale prices might be a LOT less. Ebay ended auctions on swingbikes will give you a better idea of the current market.

What yours has going for it is that all the hard to find parts are still there, fenders, reflectors, chain guard/ring....what is bad is most of the chrome is seriously rusty and my not clean up to show condition unless you replate which is crazy money. A good oxalic acid dip might do wonders.. There is a guy on Ebay selling the decals, the headbadge is barely available and the seller of those is not making any more...Big bucks too.

You gonna hang it on a wall as art or ride the fun out of it? Nice score..
Sometimes you gotta check these listings out even if it hurts.
But there's your reward...replace the wheels, grease the bearings and enjoy.
Fun ride,always gets the looks....Stevil

Just got the frame back.... We did a silver flake underneath the blue(more on the teal side)and since the fenders were do rusty we painted them a white pearl with a blue pearl accent. Now i need to find new components to put it back together. Hardest part will be to find a 12 inch wheel with a good hub. I dont think i want to use generic parts, i was thinking of using bmx components but i know nothing about good brands in them.
