Hey Guys,

Picked my new to me bike up at the local Co-op for 20 bucks. Previous owner spray painted it carelessly a bright caution orange color. While taking it apart, I noticed gold paint in the seat tube and on the fork. I am trying to figure out what kind of middleweight I have. It has tabs for a tank, and the front rack. Thanks to the serial number, I found out It was born on March 18th, 1966. It fits me OK, and I'm 6'3. The bike has the original tires in decent condition, and a Bendix coaster hub. I sanded down the paint in some areas but couldn't find signs of decals underneath. I want to figure out which model it is. It's the perfect beer bike as it is now, but I want to make it a little less attention grabbing. What do you guys suggest I do with it? I'm thinking stripping it, and painting it a sparkle black color.

Thanks,

Charlie

Panther or American Deluxe had slimline tanks and chrome chainguards that style. Only seen a couple Panthers with that reflector though, never seen an American Deluxe with one.

Americans could have come with those reflectors. I have a '63 with one and a '63 deluxe without. That chainguard says American to me. I don't know that the Panthers ever came with that style but I'm no Schwinn expert!
