What size tire will fit?

I am "refreshing" an early Campus Green Schwinn Typhoon that has the original 26 X1 3/4 tires which are dry rotted. It lools like I have enough width for 26 X2.25's. Will any of them fit the rims or do I need something special?

You will need a schwinn specific size tire 26 x 1 3/4 is not the same as 26 x 1.75 the only fatter tire I know of that will fit is a 26 x 2 x 1 3/4 I have them on my schwinn tiger

Yeah, what he said. The other option is to swap the wheels for the 559mm/ s2/ regular 26" size and run whatever you can fit between the stays.
