What year is my Murray?

This is my RRBBO4 bike, just trying to find out what year my bike is. Its a Murray Stratoliner. My guess is mid 50's. Is there anywhere to decode Murray Serial numbers? The bike is a ballooner, but it has middleweight tires on it in the pic, and it has a Musselman rear hub

I think you're right - 50s. I have the remnants of a Western Flyer parts bike identical to yours (frame, crankset, rack and chainguard). Crankset is super nice but the rest looks pretty much like yours. Mine had S-7 white rims and a Schwinn Komet-type hub. Weird stuff.

cool old murray!! id guess it as an early to mid 50's as well. i've never seen a murray date decoder, but if its out there, someone here will find it. :mrgreen:

Thanks guys, too bad most of the other companies besides Schwinn didn't keep track of these things. It would be cool to know the exact year but knowing within a few years is a start.
