seriously..all jokes aside. what's up w/ caged ball bearings?
i read years ago(in some manual) that the ball bearings should always meet balls toward the crown, and the race on the other side.
i lived and worked w/ that for years until i messed w/ a few 60s an 70s schwinns. they have the squished bearing cages and they're mounted bachwards(or upside-down). i figured that was just a schwinn "thing".
this weekend i stripped a bike and it had the bearings reversed. and they were squished like a 70s schwinn. i really didnt sxpect that on a 90s bike.
to clarify i'm talkin' about the head tube. so far every BB i've come across had the balls facing the crown.
