Wheels change question

Hi all!

First of all great to find this forum. It has already given me so much joy! 8)

I bought 40's Swhimm frame little while ago and now starting to build it up to be somewhat of what I have in mind. First question is,as I'm looking for different parts that are needed, is if I'm to install wider wheels should I be ok with old spokes of the old wheel (wheel diameter is the same 26")?

There are several different ways to go. Keep every thing original. Spokes, hubs wheels. Or rebuild the same wheels, but install thicker stainless steel spokes. Like me I slapped used mountain bike wheel set and then a little later, Rebuilt the rear with a 71' Sturmy Archer 3 speed with the newer rim. Or buy a completely new wheel set, a single speed coaster break, or a 7 - 8 speed internal Nexus Hub. There are a lot of possibilities on your build.
