I'm a huge fan of tank-style bikes, and I own two already. I'm addicted to collecting, of course, so I have been eyeing the Torker Bermuda bikes. I saw a couple on Craigslist a few months ago. Today I saw a red one while I was out riding my Electra, and then found one on Craigslist that is two hundred miles away for $150. I don't really have the money for a new bike right now, much less paying for gas to go pick it up.
So what do I find on yet another casual search of Craigslist?

I scored this standard 26-inch aluminum frame that's incredibly light for only $25.
There are lots of marks and scratches all over it as it used to be a rental for a local Motel (still has the sticker).
This is my first build from scratch. Any suggestions?

I like the paint job as is, except for the giant TORKER on the chain guard.
I'd like to put some kind of old-school springer on it that isn't the standard Schwinn-style and a rear fender. I'm not really interested in making it a low rider.

Sounds like you're supposed to have one of those! :D
Your plan with it sounds really good! Maybe one of those rat-trap springers (I'm not sure it's the right name for it but I hope you understand what type I mean) would look good on it? :) I agree with you on that Torker logo on the chainguard, it looks out of place.

I too always seem to stumble on to new projects at just the right time. Nice score on the lightweight too. Id do mild apes, laid back seatpost, bobbed rear fender or no fender, lose the chainguard. the pin stripes would go nice with whitewalls on the fattest rims you can find. Just my 2 cents...
