I'm guessing the answer will be from second hand chopper bikes, I just can't find any locally for cheap.

I did get my hands on an old Walmart mountain bike with the triple tree style suspension fork, the only problem is, the fork legs clamp on the top, but are welded on the bottom triple clamp, so I don't know how easy they will be to mod.

Seen them on bikebuyers.com for $39.00 plus shipping, but just can't justify since some people are finding chopper bikes for $30 to free locally.

Is there a source I'm missing?

The small OCC Stingray chopper forks have a 1" steer tube and can fit a 26x2.125 tire. The only mod needed is the bottom of the fork tubes need to be tweeked a bit because they hit the spokes. I have found two of these for free. Just gotta watch CL in both the bikes and the freebies and be ready to jump quick.

Ratfink1962 is the one who introduced me to these forks and their potential. Here is how he fixed it on his Kansas Fried Cruiser. Very cool bike by the way. Check out the build here http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=10772

Heres a few pics of the changes.... chop chop

And one final pic of the fork tubes, had a clearance issue with the larger 26" wheel, so chop chop, issue resolved.

I solved it with a squeeze in the vice.

around these parts (canada) crappy tire (canadian tire) sell a cheap line of bicyles know as supercycles.
They do a heavy as heck full suspension cheap bike called the hooligan (in 24" and 26")

After a summer or 2 of abuse, the little 24" can usually be picked up on local classified adds for $20 -$30,
in rusted out condition with bent derailers etc.
most cases its cheaper to buy your kid a new bike than to pay a shop to repair a supercycle piece o junk.

i buy em up, punk the 24" alum rims for 24x3" tires and the alum. tripe trees, the rest head to the recyclers.
a little ss tubing and plate, and your ready to rock.

This helps alot, I've been looking more for good deals on the bigger chopper bikes, didn't know the little one would work.

Back on the prowl.
