Where to buy chrome 27 inch road bike wheels or rims ?

Older bikes with 27" wheels, especially the step-thru type, are cheaply available here in Poland, I have one in my garage that has kindly donated its parts to various projects.

Is buying such a bike a possibility just for the wheels?

As a side note I avoid referring to them as Ladies' bikes as they are ridden by men as often as women here in rural Eastern Poland as they are a darn sight easier to get on and off when the front and rear baskets are full of produce. As a second side note, the local DIY store keep threatening not to replace their in-store baskets as they keep getting stolen by people to mount on the back of their bicycles...

Nice chrome rims definitely look nice; however, aluminum alloy rims win on functionality. Alloy rims are lighter and stop quicker with rim brakes. Chrome rims are especially tough to stop when wet. Have fun!

Donor bike is the way to go. I have a set in storage of you're not in a hurry. Came on a womens Murray that was basically new other than sitting in a garage for 40+ years.
