Specifically an additional crown. I have a set of triple crowns on my WCC stretch and enjoy the forks very much. And I have found sites that sell them as completes before. But does any one know where I would go looking for just the crown. I would very much like to have a front brake after reading the failed coaster brake thread. I used up my welding favors on the frame. So I'm trying to figure a way to add a front braked mechanically. Trying not to use hose clamps but thought maybe an extra crown, just above the wheel and one of those v-brake post adapters. Might need a set of good zip ties but this would also give me a place to put a low mount headlight. I have a drill press and some light machining could look real interesting indeed.

As I take a few minutes to search myself it may be the v-brake adapter that is the problem. Found one pretty expensive for the stamped steel it appears to be. I could do it with a Tektro U-brake adapter. I guess U-brakes work well enough. I've never personally used them. I would have to rig a headset retainer for the cable pull but have a scrap one or two. If only I could get a little more welding done. I'd be looking at a front disk. Or worst case I have a fork with posts on it. I just think this lower crown has some asthetic interest to it.

why not put the brake on the back wheel? it will work independant of the coaster. its only for emergency use, right? so, a painted rim isnt an issue. i think you could "hide" the brakes easier on the rear. just an idea.

Would really like to do that too. But that would be in the future in addition to one on the front. I would like a free wheel someday and maybe even to be motored. So maybe it will just have to wait until I find an additional weldor or learn a little myself. If you look at my bike (build thread for "stretched frame=finally fits" there is only one place for brake posts on the rear and that is the bottom of the chain stays. Which is very close to the ground. I'm starting to think it would be easier to look at the drop outs and figure a way to machine tabs to allow disc caliper mounts. Don't really want to dump into the expense of all that but maybe if I do it one wheel at a time. It would be really nice if someone had figured out how to make a disc work on a non disc hub. If the motored bike guys do it with their drive gear sandwiched around their spokes, why can't someone do it with a brake rotor? I'm sure it's already been tried. Just thinking out loud here.

Unless I could find that extra crown. Anyone have one of these bikes they are parting out?
