So since I got the goodrich bike the other day and I already have more then a few projects ahead of it, Ive pretty much decided its going to be my bike for next years build off, now to start collecting parts. Who else is already hoarding parts for the next build off?

Both of my teenagers have already told me their bikes are off limits...

Normally I just build whatever is on hand at the moment but I have been getting my hands on cooler and cooler bikes lately so maybe... I have said too much already.

I to am guilty of hording parts for next years build off. I've slowly started it already but it's still bare bones.

I told myself I was retiring from the buildoffs after last years......but ive got this really neat lil `38 Dayton frame and........

Flexy and Firewing chewed up soooo much of my time the past couple of build offs, I have seriously thought about either not entering BO9 or doing a very basic build. We'll see how things shake out when May rolls around. It's also possible that the timing may work out perfectly for me to jump to Anything Goes with my adult fat tire 3 speed Screamer build (Nanner Puddin). I just don't know at this point. I've hoarded enough parts for 2-4 different builds, I just need the time!!

You guys should start deciding amongst yourselves who is going to come in 2nd, cause ain't nobody beating me!!

But my true answer is no, I build bikes year round, not just for the bbo, I never agree with the voting anyways....

I have a frame, fenders, stem and an idea. Nothing ground breaking, just my usual patina build with a modern wheelset. I like that formula.

I don't have the motivation, time or skill set to place in the BOs. I just use them to force me to finish a bike.

I think you should build something from a Dohan folding bike that goes further than Fugsley. Maybe use some Mongoose Beast wheels on one! And a snowboard instead of a ski.

RRBO8 was my last one... :|
You say that now... I hope you'll join us again, you do some awesome work. Truly inspiring.

I wasn't able to participate in the RRBO, and I didn't have a chance against the top bikes anyway. But I'm building 2 of my projects for the Muscle Bike BO going on now.

It's a lot of fun, but I'm running out of time fast.

I have my frame, a couple small parts and a vision for BO9. What I don't have is money. IF I can get a financial plan to fund it by then, then I'm in. If not, well, we'll just have to see......

I've made my opinions clear several times.
To me, it's not all about a Buildoff, it's all about building bikes. No calendar or scheduled event for me. 8)
I build bikes year round but the build off gives my a chance to get out of my comfort zone and do something I may not normally do. And even tho I havent sold chantilly lace(rrbo8) yet I have lined up a repaint job on a bike one of my friends wife bought off me in the spring. She took it home and broke it down and spray painted it then realized she was in over her head and he asked if I could lace it up and put it back together again.

My plan is to spend even less then I did on my first 2 build offs. So far Im into it for $5 bucks for the rolling frame. Not sure what I want to do for a theme. Im already going to be doing a 46 schwinn in a blue and white bulldog theme, a 57 rollfast called black dragon, then a complete basic repaint on my Hawthorne tank bike

My BO8 build was a low budget build. My BO7 was a theme bike build. BO9 will/would be something different. I don't know what I'd call it yet really.

One of the lessons learned from RRBBO8 was that all of my planning prior to the start was for nothing.

I had ideas for a board track build all worked out (down to the name) on my computer and at the last minute switched over to a Yamaha Motobike because it seemed like a more interesting idea right at that time. Then when it became obvious that I wouldn't finish on time, I winged it with the frame that I had planned to use from the start, but without the original concept because I would not have had enough time to for that build either.

I've got several ideas for bikes that I've conceptualized even before I became a member here almost a year ago. I actually found this site while researching ideas for a steam punk bike that I was designing at the time! And, I'm always keeping an eye out for something else that excites or challenges me.

So for me, this is far too early to be planning any one specific build for next year. But that doesn't mean that I'm not working out more ideas, I just don't know which one will be motivating me at that particular time.

I will say that right now I've been playing with some ideas for a bobber and if the build-off where to start tomorrow, that's what I would enter!
