I am wondering if this Monarch Springer extension will work with my Dyno Ultra Glide. If everything is the correct size, can I just use my current forks and the Springer extension? Will that give me the same amount of 'shock absorption' as the bikes they are actually designed for? I don't plan on taking it offroad.

If I get one with a 1 1/8 inch hole in the top bracket, will that work? It seems like the hole would work with both threaded and threadless.
By 'the rest of the fork', do you mean I can't use my existing main fork that's on the Dyno? Is this auction for an incomplete set of Monarch springer forks?
Girvin forks are cool, but they are too 'tech looking' for my cruiser.

GameBent,
It will totally work, if, like bighit said, the top mounting plate on the Monark will fit over your existing fork ( you can always grind it out to fit).
I originally had a complete Monark fork on my bike, but my 24 x 3 tire rubbed. The piece you're looking to buy has plenty of clearance, it was the 'main' fork that I had trouble with. I added a Worksman 'main' fork and the 'springer' section of the Monark. It works perfectly. Just make sure your existing Dyno fork has the saftey washers on it.

You can see from bighit's pic that the ends on the original fork are 'closed'. Having the washers (most 'modern' forks have them) will prevent the 'main' fork from slipping off the rocker. Speaking of which, adding the springer will lengthen your wheelbase (I like it better) a little and slightly increase the 'rake' of the front end. Check my before and after pics below.

Good luck! Hope it works out for ya!

I'm thinking of getting Schwinn-style Springer forks for the Dyno instead, mostly due to the threadless setup, but:
I'd like to get these Monarch extensions working on my Electra Vince, using the existing forks. It has a threaded setup, so it would be easy to replace the strut rods with the springer extension. Unfortunately, the existing forks do not have the 'safety washer' hole mentioned above. Would it be a bad idea for me to drill a small hole for the safety washer in each side of the forks on my Vince?

You could do that, or you could weld (or have welded) a heavy duty steel washer over the dropout, or a small scrap of metal bridged across the bottom.
