Meh…. $25. I’m sure there a better deals out there, but I Couldn’t resist.

Only downer is it’s missing a head badge.

Other than that, rides fine. I was surprised this thing still has the 26” wheels

Tires are actually super unique and don’t have any dry rot

LOTS of parts….. I have a few super unique bikes on the line I’m yet to land

Anyone know: are these fenders / on right? Front fender looks like is on backwards or wrong

That's what... 1980ish? I was working in a Schwinn shop back then and don't recall those fenders specifically, but they look right to me?

Edit: Screen shot from a 1980 Schwinn catalog:

I think it’s 70’s as it still has the 26” wheels?

I’ll get the SN in a bit. The front fender has a fish-tail on the front which is throwing me for a loop…

I asked the same question when I got my green collegiate...the answer was 'yes' from several people who had the same question when they got theirs.

It was a strange choice on Schwinn's part. It's like the corvair of bicycle fenders...never quite sure which end is the front.

Also, anyone know anything about the Shimano “FF System”

It’s on this bike….. it has a funky nut or bushing on each side of the chainring

Not sure of the design idea behind it.

So…. I’ve seen some videos and have been doing some research on this front free wheel thing…..

I was afraid I got some weird, poor design, low volume, bad idea of a bike mechanism that has a bunch of parts that I can’t really use!

turns out I’m right!!!!! :21:

good news is, I definitely like weird/unique bikes and features!!!

I’m not sure what I’m going to put this gear on, BUT I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Here is a video of the FFS.
Dude: super cool. -Thing is turning and shifting like silk!

so, I like weird/ unique stuff and this thing is right in my wheelhouse!

I get the whole establishment position siting weight issues and the design not necessarily being based on rider necessity, but, it’s without question super unique!

have you ever logged any serious miles on one or what’s your take?

I built it for a friend. Found it at a thrift store for $35. Still had a little “price tag” that said “built by giant”. It was a Schwinn world traveler I believe. It had a positron derailleur and at the time I didn’t know what that was. Unfortunately I cut the cable. A positron cable costs more than the bike. So I swapped derailleurs. I have a video of the build somewhere.

So to answer your question, I didn’t put
many miles on it. I think it is super cool too. My main concern was giving the bike to someone and them having an issue in the future. I promised to take care of it forever after explaining they might have trouble taking it to a bike shop.

…… it’s also good to note, there are literally NO tire options for these S6 wheels….

I knew the Pickens were slim….. but SHEESH!!!!!! :headbang:

i can’t believe there isn’t a SINGLE gravel/off road tire that will fit on an S6 wheel!????
