Pulled the fenders off this old girl tonight…..

I don’t see this too often

Clean!

I find it unfortunate that most step-through Chicago Schwinns are not more financially feasible, but at least the parts are.
I’m a wimp…. I’m going to keep it and turn it into a rider for my wife or one of my girls…. I will repurpose a lot of her parts on more desirable Schwinns.

Meh…. $25. I’m sure there a better deals out there, but I Couldn’t resist.

Only downer is it’s missing a head badge.

Other than that, rides fine. I was surprised this thing still has the 26” wheels

Tires are actually super unique and don’t have any dry rot

LOTS of parts….. I have a few super unique bikes on the line I’m yet to land

Anyone know: are these fenders / on right? Front fender looks like is on backwards or wrong

I think it’s 70’s as it still has the 26” wheels?

I’ll get the SN in a bit. The front fender has a fish-tail on the front which is throwing me for a loop…

I asked the same question when I got my green collegiate...the answer was 'yes' from several people who had the same question when they got theirs.

It was a strange choice on Schwinn's part. It's like the corvair of bicycle fenders...never quite sure which end is the front.

Also, anyone know anything about the Shimano “FF System”

It’s on this bike….. it has a funky nut or bushing on each side of the chainring

Not sure of the design idea behind it.

So…. I’ve seen some videos and have been doing some research on this front free wheel thing…..

I was afraid I got some weird, poor design, low volume, bad idea of a bike mechanism that has a bunch of parts that I can’t really use!

turns out I’m right!!!!! :21:

good news is, I definitely like weird/unique bikes and features!!!

I’m not sure what I’m going to put this gear on, BUT I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

I threw my ‘61 corvette up for trade with a few bucks and got this:

Bruce was looking for a blue corvette, I was looking for a Schwinn camelback(s), a rear derailleur for my skinny bike build and a frame with a truss fork for the summer build-off.

24” camelback for my manta ray tribute bike

26” camelback: looking to do some sort of weird Franken-Schwinn using the 26” wheels and front freewheel system off of the blue women’s collegiate 5 I just got

Finally, for next summer’s build off: needs some patina, but the bones are there
