I am apparently not good at meeting deadlines, however, I would still like to share, as I am very proud of my bike and my man
I went to an after party at Chris’ house. He was someone I had known for years, but never really talked to at length. He told me to pick out my favourite records to listen to, from his collection, so I did. We chatted easily while I picked through them and I hoped I would see him again. A few weeks later, he came up behind me on the dance floor at a bar and said, “I’m so glad you’re here.” That was it, I was smitten. At Christmas, he came back from visiting his family with a vintage Seabreeze suitcase record player for me. His friend is a collector and had a few record players to choose from, so he told Chris to describe me to him, based on that, he picked out the right one. It was the best present I’ve ever received!

He got me. I fell for the guy. He is thoughtful, creative, tenacious, and he makes me laugh. His creativity comes out in many ways, but one of my favourites is when he is working on bikes. He takes what someone else sees as old, useless garbage and turns it into something cool, beautiful, and operational. I decided I wanted one of these bikes for myself, so one Sunday morning, we went to the flea market and picked up an old bike that we both liked. It turned out to be a 1951 Columbia.
It was in great condition. Chris was really impressed with the workmanship of whoever had painted it with red tractor paint; it was done with care. We started planning our design. It was so much fun! We would scratch out diagrams and write down lists of things we needed to do to accomplish our task. Watching Chris bring our plans into fruition was very rewarding.

She is bulky, heavy, and so gorgeous. When I take her out for a ride, I sit tall and proud.
