    auction bikes...need values!

I bought a few bikes at an auction a week ago and am wondering what kind of value they actually have for re-sale to the general public? The first one is a 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 24". Its in generally good shape, just needs a little clean up. It does not have fenders (not sure if you could get...

Balloon wheels...are these a good deal?

I've been wanting to put some balloon tires on my Schwinn Corvette (I know i'll have to modify the front and rear forks to accept the bigger tires and fenders). I ran across these in a local antique store. Is $20 a good price for these balloon tire rims?

1955 Schwinn Corvette into a balloon?

Thanks for the replies! I just want balloon tires AND the balloon fenders because they kinda make bikes look like old school motorcycles. My friend bought an old JC Higgins girls bike with the big tires/fenders and had a really cool look and loved it! I know Schwinn made balloon tire bikes, but...

1955 Schwinn Corvette into a balloon?

I have a chance to buy a 1955 Corvette frame/seat for $30 and was wondering if there is a way to convert the rear to a balloon tire bike? I know the front I just need a balloon fork. Thanks!

    Yeah I did, it's a 1959. As far as I know, it's all original.

This bike is turning out fantastic! I love the brown and white/cream color combo! Keep it up!

My first vintage bike...1959 Schwinn Corvette

Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated this. Since the last update, I have brought the 'Vette to one of the local bike shops and got a tune-up done. They got the shifter working, brakes working better, and new tubes and tires. I also have recently picked up a few new bikes. The first one is...

My first vintage bike...1959 Schwinn Corvette

So I wanted to tinker with the bike tonight but I didn't know what I could do, so I cleaned the fenders off with window cleaner and did a quick polish with Mother's Metal Polish and some shop towels and the stainless actually buffed out pretty decent. Unfortunately the polish doesn't remove...

My first vintage bike...1959 Schwinn Corvette

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm thinking of giving the fenders to a friend of mine...he wants to put some fenders on his bike and I told him if they fit, he can have 'em. No biggie. Tomorrow I'm gonna load the bike up and bring it to the bike shop and see what it takes to get it road-worthy.

My first vintage bike...1959 Schwinn Corvette

Haha that first ad is really cool! Thanks for posting! The frame is a bit rough as far as "cleaning it up" and the handlebars need to be stripped and either coated or painted, but the brake parts and everything else that can be polished will be put through a wire wheel and cleaned up. I just...

Anyone help me find some new wheels?

I have a 1959 Schwinn Corvette with 26" wheels and a 3spd rear hub. The front wheel is rusty and just gross looking, and I would like to upgrade the wheels if all possible. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on them. Also, the more spokes, the better. I saw this bike here and I fell in...

My first vintage bike...1959 Schwinn Corvette

I just got into the hobby from my friend Laura...she has a few vintage bikes and I thought they were really cool so I figured I'd search for a vintage bike of my own to build and make how I see fit. I found a guy in Superior, WI that buys and sells vintage bikes and he had a 1959 Schwinn...

    Fresh meat from Minnesota

Hey guys/gals, my name is Brodie and I just got into vintage bikes. My good friend Laura bought a really neat AMF Roadmaster Night Hawk bike and after taking some really cool pictures of it, I kinda got into the sexy lines of the vintage bikes. She is looking for another one in better shape so...
