we have had koi and goldfish in the pond for about 10 years. Today I realized we had our very first baby fish.

I was driving on friday, and all the sudden, i was like, wait. Where did the spinning grill go? Oh man"

I am actually working on that now. Anyone know where I can get a single spike lug nut?

It looks like a job for a speedo setup from jackshaft & chassis from a 90s polaris indy. Although it occurs to me you may have no frame of reference for snowmobiles in that southernly lushness of yours. Ha.

We have snowmobiles. They are usually white and ride though our neighborhoods playing some catchy bell tune. I usually get the Bomb Pop when they come by, but some people get the Snow Cones.

You did a great job on the spoke grill came out great & it doesn't look like a hodgepodge of parts ! Looks like it was meant to be there . [emoji106][emoji106][emoji95]

thanks, but that is just a mock up. Working on refinements now

Grill looks good, might be able to get the spike you're looking for at a place like Spencers Gifts if you have one in your area. I figure if the Goth and Emo kids can put big spikes on their jackets, you should be able to use one on your bike.

Ok KF, So here are some pics of the ped I've been working on. Not as good as I'd hoped because it got over cast about the time I got off work. But this is the spray glitter I was talking about.
I used an etching primer, then a hunter green base, green spray glitter and a few coats of clear.
This stuff won't do you much good for a color like sea foam, but if you want green, pink, purple, blue, red, orange or gold. This stuff should work and be cheaper than the Roth stuff.

Thanks for the paint tip. I remember a few people doing glitter paint in the past few build offs. Looks great on your moped. I don't think I am going to go that route for VerBoten though.

It would be perfect for a muscle bike,in fact I plan on using it for a future build.
It has a rough texture to it,but spray a couple coats of clear then wet sand with 2 or 3000 grit and clear again makes it all smooth.

I could find a good way to support the turbine by the front axle only so I tested a rear brace in the pics above. The brace worked fine but looked out of place on the bike. I also needed something more stable. So I cut another slat from the portable bed spring steel. Laid out a pattern and started cutting, grinding, bending, and shaping.

That grill is such a creative use of bike bits. Something anyone could have made at any point in the last century +. Now here it is. Hats off to you.

Thanks man, The fun part was I had planned on just using one end of the hub to just evenly space some spokes for a grill, then when I picked up the hub by the axle a couple of weeks later and all of the spokes hung down the side of the hub. That was when the light buld went off.

I'm still not done with it, but it's getting close. I love re-purposing things, so this has been a blast to work on!!!!!!

Cleaned up the hub and painted it with one of my accent colors

There rear of the axle will be shorter. I tapped this spike finial and painted it. It will be inside of the spoke cage.

Tapped the lug nut and added this chrome spike to it. This will be at the end of the turbine. I'll add two red stripes in the grooves
