Mocked the half sammich in place with my invisable tape.

Man, I am really loving how this is looking.

Fun memory from last year on this day. Perfect for getting my mind working on some scallops.

Cut the other slice of honeycomb bread tonight, so tomorrow I can work on the mounting ideas.

Adhesive on a roller to apply it to the honeycomb - and some practice first?

Man, this is coming together!

I keep thinking red led's when I see this honeycomb tank .

I considered thin plexiglass for the meat with leds lighting it up, but I don't want the bulk of wiring and power.

I used clear plastic holders with adhesive backed mounting tape already integrated into the holder. Bought them at Office Depot for pretty cheap. Designed to be used as card holders. This was on the RaTs GaSs build last year.

On the Shelby Woody Flyer, I mounted the clear tank 'window' panel with mini blind hold down brackets. But I had the woody panel to insert a screw into on the bottom, and I think I used two-sided 3M pad tape for the top.

Now that I look at it, I think the Woody window was just mounted from two points on the bottom. Don't have any close-ups. I wasn't taking 1000 photos of my bike at that time~! Haha!

Cool idea, but if you look at my pointy cable guides, you'll see that they were a testbed for my mounting plans for the front of the sammich tank.

What if you used plexi as protection on top of the honeycomb?
Would probably also make it easier to mount the complete 🥪

But I feel it would add a reflective layer that would damper the beehive effect.

Time to start on the sammich toothpicks. Once I had the idea for the honeycomb tank, which was only about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I had actually already been thinking of polished frame darts on the tubes. So when decided I would mount the tank with hex clamps, I instantly combined the two ideas in an aha moment. From there I extended the idea to my cable guides too. So now that I know how to make pointy hex clamps, i just have to find the right size darts.

First pass, I mocked up 4.5" toothpicks with the PAD.

I like them, but feel they are a bit too long and slender. So I tested some that are 3.5" long. I think this feels about the right scale for a 40s-50s cruiser.

Obviously I don't need any darts at the tail of the tank, but I have another idea for that. For now, I need to tranfer this from PAD to aluminum.

And even though I did consider painting red frame darts at one time, I am going to just make these polished aluminum against the satin frame.

Time to make a crown.

Time to focus on the task at hand, but I just had a killer distraction. There was a scrap piece of honeycomb near the sprocket and a light bulb went off in my head. I just had to run with it and do a simple partial mockup.

First toothpick crown mostly formed. Time for lunch with a real sammich.
