'39 Columbia midddleweight Rat

I finally decided to get this 39 columbia frame rolling. I bought it a year ago at an automotive swap meet for $7.00. I used schwinn wheels and tires off of my wifes 60 Debutante, an el'cheapo crankset from e-bay, a schwinn "S" seat, and a set of bars I had laying around. Project took an hour from start to finish. It could use a new set of tires because these have some pretty bad cracks from dry rot. Any ideas on what kind of tires? Do they make those red brick tires in 26 X 1-3/4" size????

thats a cool ride .. i think they do make red tires in that size .. or but not sure where to get them .... i love columbias hows the old dog ride?

It rides real nice but I think there's something wrong with the rear hub becaues it makes a clunking sound every once in a while like it locks up for a second then releases.

Cool lookin old Columbia! I have one too, the big tires do fit and they aren't as expensive. :mrgreen:

You must have a different frame. I tried a set of 2.125 tires on mine and they rubbed real bad in the back and the front was worse!
