68 Coppertone Typhoon

Found this nice 1968 Coppertone Typhoon with a smooth working 2 speed kickback recently. I was at a garage sale and asked about bikes and this was in a shed. I greased and cleaned it and replaced the dry rotted tires. I think this is a keeper. The only issue I need to remedy is the seat has some dark stains. Anybody have one to sell or any good seat cleaning tips?


I paid $100 for it which seems ok for a clean 2 speed middle weight.

$100 seems like a good deal to me, specially with the kickback hub!

You did very well. No, you did VERY, VERY well for $100. You could triple your money tomorrow. I've got a mint red 2 speed Typhoon just like yours but have to admit, the coppertone is way sharper than red. Gary

When I'm out garage saleing I usually do drive bys looking for spoked wheels. Most put their bikes out front to attract attention. If I don't see one, I usually don't stop. But if I do stop, I always ask if they have any bikes. You'd be surprised how often they say they forgot to get one out of the shed. Great find!
