Re: BEER RUN - Fosters Beer Can "Water" Bottle Holder

Fabricated my "water" bottle holder tonight out of a Fosters Beer Can.
Cut the top off and insterted some galvanize strapping in the top and folded the upper inch of the can over it.
Cut down an old water bottle holder and attached it to the can with rivets and screws.
Covered the folded can with aluminum tape and then lined the inside of the can with foam insulation.
I decided to go the easy way on monting it to the bike. I just used ring clamps to mount it to the handlebar stem.
It is actually at a great angle for accessing my "Water" bottle while riding.
Cheers!

Re: BEER RUN - Fosters Beer Can "Water" Bottle Holder

Hey Kingfish254,

Your bike looks so fun.
I like the way you put it together 8)
Your theme is everywhere.
You stole my bullhorn trick (that I hadn't done yet  )
It looks great.

I hope it's a smooth ride. Don't shake up the beer!

Re: BEER RUN - Fosters Beer Can "Water" Bottle Holder

Thanks. I came across the bullhorns at a swap meet and knew they would look great as cruiser bars.

Re: BEER RUN - Fosters Beer Can "Water" Bottle Holder

i am honored love the bike and looks way more comfortable to ride than mine

Karfer, you are well deserving of being on two of the bottles in the RRB BO Commemorative Beer Sampler. I haven't gotten around to doing the bottle labels yet, but will sometime this weekend. I also need to make the bike chain 6 pack tie downs. If I had enough old beer cans, I could have done them with pull tabs.

It's not all about how comfortable a bike is, it's also about how cool you look getting there.

Re: BEER RUN - Fosters Beer Can "Water" Bottle Holder

Here are some better shots of the Foster's can. I had to remove the foam insulation so the my oversized opaque "water" bottle would fit.
Maybe I should have mounted a pony keg or party ball on the back with a feeder tube to the rider?

to make a BEER RUN trailer like this

Re: BEER RUN - Wheelchair Whiskey Crate BEER RUN Trailer

I'll play around with this trailer idea more tomorrow. Obviusly the wheels need to be mounted on the side, but I just don't know if this is right for the bike.

Re: BEER RUN - Wheelchair Whiskey Crate BEER RUN Trailer

I did some other detail work on BEER RUN today.

I finally mounted beer can work for the Olde Frothingslosh headbadge, the Tennents Lager and top tube pilsner glass, and Bonzo's Beer seat tube can. I found some great glue sheets in the epoxy isle of Home Depot. They are like little 2x2 sheets of gummy glue double backed tape. Perfect for headbadges and such.

I also made up the bike chain tie downs for the RRB six pack

All in all, a fun day with the bike.

I still don't know about that trailer idea though.......

Re: BEER RUN - Wheelchair Whiskey Crate BEER RUN Trailer

Ah ya gotta do the trailer!! That wheelchair is the exact same type I got my handlebars from for my buildoff... they've got a through-bolt and a little captive nut if you want to get creative with them. :)

The beer run bike is looking great! Definitely the one to have for a pub crawl. Good luck with the build!

Re: BEER RUN - Wheelchair Whiskey Crate BEER RUN Trailer

Well, that's the cool thing about a trailer, it comes off when not in use.
But those small wheels wouln't like rough road surfaces. Also there will be some binding when the bike leans for turning.

Either way, I say go for it.

Re: BEER RUN - Wheelchair Whiskey Crate BEER RUN Trailer

Thanks for the encouragement, but I am just not feeling the trailer for this one. I did think up a few gimble ideas to handle the bike leaning while the trailer stays level. I'll let the idea mull around in my swamp of a brain for a while. Who knows.

Re: BEER RUN - Fins Left Fins Right and a Bud Horn to Sound

From the start the skateboard reminded me of a surfboard, so I have been trying to find some fins. Well, I found the perfect ones for BEER RUN on ebay. Some Landshard Lager Fin coasters.

So now I have Fins to the Left and Fins to the Right.

I can't believe that this idea didn't pop into my head until tonight. Attach a beer can to a horn. Duh!

Re: BEER RUN - Fins Left Fins Right and a Bud Horn to Sound

So far, I have 19 beers represented on this bike, including New Belgium (the La Folie bottle tank).
Maybe NB will let me design their next Fat Tire bike. 8)

Re: BEER RUN - Fins Left Fins Right and a Bud Horn to Sound

-"another one?!"
-"the bike honey! its for the bike!!"
looks like fun :D

Wait, if you are going to count how many beers went into this build, then I definitely need to up the number. It is against the rules to build a BEER RUN bike sober. 8)

Can't wait to get home tonight and try out something I thought of at work. No beer cans involved, but it would be a drastic change in the way the bike rides. We'll see if it works.

Re: BEER RUN - Opinions wanted on wheel combos!!

Okay, I like the way BEER RUN has been looking, but an idea popped in my head and I have to try it out.
I decided to play around with some wheel combos and see how it works.
I have some cool fat 20" wheels from a kids Nirve chopper.
I also have a 700c hybrid wheel that I played with on the front.

What do you think???
Opinions requested!!

I could swap out the current 7" crank for the 5" crank off of the chopper.

I am also thinking that if I went with the low rear, it kinda screams for apes or some other bars.
I tried these again.
