I was recently gifted 4 bikes by a friend at work who's had them at his beach house since new...stoked!
One of those bikes is this cool little Steyr Clubman. It has tons of scuffs and scrapes, but it the decals and color are so cool, I decided to keep the patina and build around it.
How I got it, cracked, flat tires, shot cables, browned bar tap and crusty as all get out
Torn down, no issues with the breakdown, and most of the chrome is pretty good still, basically all I'm using:
Nearly done, I serviced the hubs, BB, and head bearings, washed and waxed the frame, scrubbed up all the chrome, and cleaned all that I could. I added a set of wheels I got from a buddy for free and some new 27x1 1/4 gumwalls. I also added a nice Soma Okami saddle that I got for a song at the LBS with the other goodies
My intention was to only run a front brake with a top mounted lever, but the lever was the wrong size, so I snagged a sweet set of Dia Compe drop levers with hoods for $12 shipped on Ebay and added some sexy Deda perforated bar tape. I also had left over white cable housing from my road bike build so I used that.
I also added some pretty MKS road pedals with clips and white leather straps that I had from a previous bike before going clipless. I'll try to get so decent completed shots tomorrow if the weather allows.
The black Schwinn World I got will receive the Pashley treatment, and I haven't decided what to do with the Raleigh Record Ace Mixte...
Previous builds for posterity...
