Chain Ring Size Recommendation

What size front sprocket would you recommend for a bike with 24" wheels and 3 speed hub? I was thinking 44 or 48.

If the hub has the usual 18 teeth sprocket, a 48 would probably be best, with 24" wheels you might be spinning to fast at normal speed if you have a 44. You might be shifting between 2nd and 3rd trying to find a good cruising gear. Or you could go with a 46.
