Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

Looking good Peatbog  What if you just did a striaght down tube?

Here's a Paint mock up I did....

Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

looks like if you continue with more bend in the top tube it would lower the rear axle which would end up raising the BB a bit.

Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

The frame is really flowing nicely now!!!!!!!

Just an idea, but why don't weld a cool old rear hub shell it bride the downtube gap.
Or a 5 speed gear cluster.

A five-speed gear cluster? What the...!? You're freaking me out man. :p I'm having enough trouble with a plain round tube!

Just hinking that gap may provide an opportunity for something different. It looked like the right size for a cluster.

You could even leave it so that the freewheel still worked. That way you could put fan blades on it so that the air would make it rotate like a pinwheel. :p

Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

I'm glad you liked my idea  I think the bend in the down tube fits this style of frame better 8) It almost looks like a Huffy Rail/Spaceliner frame :D

I don't have a frame for the build off (YET!), but I have a good idea

...must get back home and shovel snow again...

Heck I'll only be 65! :D

Frame looks nice! 8) Very clean look to it

Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

Not to sound negative , but you have the tools and the skills , I don't understand why you
limit yourself to using frame parts , when you can use tubing and build any frame you
want. If you can do that good with cut bike frames , the sky is the limit on what you can come
up with bending your own. Just my 2 cents worth though.

Re: Schwinn Big Chopper

Sweet!! This is starting to look like the love child from a Huffy Rail and a Spaceliner. The Rail-Liner.
Great work!!!
