Alright, no excuses this time: You got a month to plan to be here!
The New London Connecticut Custom Bike Club is doing their 2008 Summer Rat Ride. All the custom bikes that people have been putting together over the last year will be rolling on the streets in eastern Connecticut.
New London is a pretty bike-friendly town and there's an important movement afoot to make it even more so. People are biking more here on a regular daily basis to fight the cost of fuel. It's one of the most expensive places in the country right now at almost $4.40 a gallon. So we're having fun on two wheels, putting custom creations on the street and showing that maybe Yankee ingenuity isn't quite dead after all.
Our club, the NLCCBC, (http://www.bareiss.net/nlccbc.html) has been putting on a ride every month this season. We get new members and more folks each time. Each ride has a theme- last month we concentrated on classic road bikes.
Still had a hard time getting people off their Krates and fat cruisers but it was a good ride.
Had a nice looking lineup anyway at the diner!
This time around the theme of the ride is RATS, LOWRIDERS, CUSTOMS, HOMEBUILT BIKES!
We're planning an easy ride in the downtown area because a few of these bikes are kinda slow-n-low!
Most of the Rat Rod projects I've posted along the way will be here for the ride.
There will be some that nobody has seen yet!
Don't miss this ride if you're into Rat bikes! Everyone with a custom bike is welcome to come join us and show off their work, and all bike enthusiasts and collectors are welcome to ride with us.
The site for our club schedule, with ride dates, directions, and a printable flyer online, is HERE:
