New member, found this 2000s re-pop Schwinn Panther wadded up on the shoulder of the expressway a while back. Both rims were totally tacoed, the fork was bent in just a hair and the seat and post are MIA. Probably fell off of somebody’s RV at speed and did some exciting bouncing before coming to rest. Straightened the fork nicely and easily while still mounted with a porta-power, threw a spare mountain bike front rim on and waiting for an alloy rear in the mail. Kinda seeing a Klunker-lite treatment in its future. Thinking MX bars, Red Comp IIIs or Snake Bellies, old school BMX pedals etc. May eventually go to a freewheel and handbrake.
Been trying to bring back a pretty, but clapped out, Lexus LS400 needing just about every deferred service and maintenance item imaginable. As well as trying to resurrect a PPV pedal car. Hit a little roadblock on the transmission assembly. Not sure what’ll happen with it. But this Schwinn should be a nice, straight forward, fun project...a break from all the other needy junk
