Today. We went out for breakfast so I took some photos. It started snowing during breakfast.

With an old house you have to shovel the roof off to prevent the roof from collapsing.

That first roof is holding a lot of weight. I have to use a roof rake on the garage, it is already pretty slantey. So fun to have to clear the roof, with half of it falling in your face, and then shovel up what you've removed once again.

March 3rd and +1F. Still to cold for me to do anything except shovel, feed the critters and burn my garbage. The general store closed last fall as the owners retired and the bank wouldn’t give a loan for potential new buyers. That meant that we lost access to their dumpster. So, we burn everything that’s not compostable. Bones, cans, glass, paper, plastic, vacuum cleaners, TVs, shoes, cloths, tires you name it. We had an old two story cabin here where our new house is. It was cut off its old foundation with an old chainsaw, pulled down with large come a longs and then I spent the winter burning it. I have a big bag of batteries that need recycling. The glass is smashed and collected and the metal is recycled after the burn. We’re hoping that the store will open some day.

Today it’s 32F with freezing rain. I had to use a ski pole for stability to go out and salt my walk to the woodshed. My wife hauled wood from the shed as our porch stash was low. I can’t imagine trying to drive today, I think that would be impossible, you can’t hardly stand up outside.
