I think this is the first time I've seen a stick shifter on a lightweight bike.
I'm guessing that someone either robbed it off a Sting-Ray or they actually bought it as an accessory from the Schwinn store.
Anyone else seen this done before?

but they started using the ribbed handle shifters on early-mid 67 stingrays/fastbacks, still doesnt rule out a leftover accessory that got smacked on there though.

the "stik" part that the shifter ball sits on.
the early shifters didnt have the ribbed lever, they were smooth like what was on this racer
