Help, What year is this Monark?

Was told its late 50's, possibly 1956-58. Serial # CH679912 although could possibly be GH679912, hard to make out if it's a C or G.... Any help much appreciated.

Also, serial# is on the left rear dropout and here's a pic

Welcome to the forum! Your Monark is from 1958 or later, after Huffy bought the co. It's basically a renamed Huffy. The serial is odd, it does have the typical Huffy H as the 2nd digit, but most common is something like "8H80000" which would be 1958. It's definitely not a 56, and they pretty much retired the Monark name by about 1964. Definitely early 60s vicinity though. -Adam

Adam, thank you very much for your info, I picked that bike up a couple weeks ago at a flea market near my house, my first tanked bike... I've been a "lurker" on the site for a couple months now but this was my first post on the forum -Toby
