Homemade Truss Rods

I'm wanting to put a set of truss rods on my new Higgins crusiner...I'm looking for some ideas on how to fabricate them...what have you guys done!?!

1/4 inch steel brake line. That's what I'm going to use.

Steel axles from a gas grille banged straight.

Threaded for brass acorn nuts
