My klunker needs a funky shifter.

Hey guys, I need ideas. I want to put a shifter on my new klunker, I want something out of the ordinary (surprise!). I'm thinking of mounting it on the cantilever tube between the seat tube and the down tube, or on the seat post. Or somewhere else.

Hey Jackdaw I like your Klunker 5-speed project. I think a schwinn krate stick shifter on the down tube towards the sprocket down from the fork. I think I saw that on a lowrider stingray in a mag from the 90s. Keep us posted.

Plenty of ideas in the thread at the link below. One of my favorite threads. It does not need to be expensive to be kool if you are creative. You can make a friction stick shift by modifying an old downtube shifter, stem shifter or grip shifter.
