My wife teaches 8th grade at our local middle school. The building used to be the high school before the new high school was built. From 1962-70 the art students made tile mosaics that have hung in the hallways since they were created. With the passage of a bond issue last year the school is being remodeled and the board of education decided to remove close to 100 of the mosaics and auction them off. Half the mosaics were sold traditional live auction style and half were sold by silent auction where the bidders wrote their bids on a sheet of paper next to the individual mosaics. I purchased a total of three of them- one for my wife to hang in her classroom, one for me, and I don't know what the third one was due to a lapse in judgement by the auction staff (I will explain later).
My father-in-law is a custodian at the school so I was able to get in a week ahead of the rest of the buyers and bring the two I was sure of home.
This is the one I purchased for myself. It resonated with me because this is how my brain works. It is 80"x30"

There were about 20 of the mosaics that were added to the auction after the catalog was printed so the auction staff labeled them as Lot A, Lot B, etc. I bid on several of the silent auction mosaics throughout the evening. When the bid cut-off time was reached the staff rushed out to pull all the bid sheets to tally up the winners totals. Unfortunately nobody thought to document which mosaic belonged to which lot. So there are about 10 or so lots that are all jumbled up. I will have to wait until the other winners have picked up their treasures to sort out the mish-mash with the other bidders that are in the same boat as me. Once I get the last one home I will share it here.
