Odd Mesinger Seat

I picked up this 62 girls American cheap for parts and it has this oddball Mesinger seat. It is between a normal saddle and a banana or polo seat. I know it's rough but is this something that is desirable or just a funky old rat seat? Any thoughts on this?

Don't know nothing about it, but that is a cool girls bike.
The bars are awesomeness.
The even said it was cool!

Usually see those style seats on Columbias myself, but only once in a great while.

I don't know anything about the seat but those pictures are a great testament to the quality of original Schwinn chrome plating!
