Hellow fellow bike enthousiasts!

A couple of weeks ago i decided to build my own bike. So i sold my old 'new' bike. I had used it only for 10 minutes, from the bikeshop to my house. And used the money to buy me a custom 'porucho' frame.

This is the frame after i picked it up at the shop. 8)

I thought flat black on the frame would be a nice color because i wanted to go for an old school mobster look.
For the wheels and tires i wanted wide flat black wheels and white wall tires.

This is the preview of the wheel/tire combination.

After searching on google for good how to's to put the spokes in the wheels. I started to put my first wheel together.
Step 1: The spokes in one side of the sturmey archer 2 speed hub

Step 2: Putting the spokes in the other side of the hub.

Step 3: Putting the last spokes in the hub.

Notice the pictures getting darker every picture. The first rim cost me 2 hours.!

First i wanted to buy a wide seat because the position on the bike would be really low, and it would be more comfy.
Here's a picture from a Brooks seat i found on the internet. it was a reall bargin' that i could not resist. So i bought it and tried it on the bike, i must say i like the look of it but im not sure if it is comfortable enough.

The seat has to go a little lower and i probably need to adjust it more to the back of the bike. But you can get an idea how it looks like.

I'm hopin' on picking all the parts up this weekend so i can start on finishing the bike and preparing it for my first ride!

Nice project going on. Have you used that 2 speed hub before? I was just looking at them on line and was wondering how well they worked..

Hello,

Here's another update.!

Friday the 21st after work i rushed to Haarlem to pick up the last parts to complete my bike.
After picking up the parts i started with the parts i could easily fit on the bike. The bearings for the crankset needed to be frozen before they could fit, so that part of the bike i had to wait at least 1 day.

By the end of the evening i was done putting the wheeltape on the inside of the rim, and putting the tires around the wheels. i installed the rear sprocket and made a clip to hold the rear brake.

The next day the bearings for the crankpiece where cold enough to fit the hole in the frame. And after some gentle tapping with a rubber hammer i could start installing the crankset on the bike.
Because of the distance between the front and rear sprocket i had to make 1 chain out of 2 chains. Wich was a pain in the #ss because everytime i tried to put the connector pin in the chain, the chain connecting tool slipped of the connector pin and i had to start all over again! Then i had a brillant idea  to use the waterpump plier to hold the chain in place

Then the last thing to do is install the chain on te sprockets and slide the rearwheel back to tension the chain.

Tadaa the bike is ready for the first cruise! 8)

Thnq!

No this actually is the first time i built a bike. After using the bike to go to work i can say that i really like the 2 speed hub.

The first gear is really nice to ride at low speed and for steep hills and the 2nd gear is good for a little more speed. in combination with the sprockets i used i think i just nailed the gearing.

Wow!

I kinda expected this... GREAT lookin Bike you have there! Nice pics too... :D
Now we HAVE to go for a ride one day

Congrats and thanx for the kind words!!
