37 sounds about right to me. the fork has been changed. looks like you hit the jackpot with that seat and stem.
 
It could be a '37 from the looks of the chainguard. I don't think that seat came with that bike. Seat is from a '37 Schwinn SA 207 or a '38 Deluxe cantilever autocycle. High dollar seat!! I don't think the neck, fork, or truss rods are Schwinn. Schwinn had a similar neck but it was aluminum. So, a parts bike with some darn good parts. Gary

These adjustable stems were produced in steel and aluminum. For a long time it was accepted that the steel were Autocycle and aluminum were for lightweights (Continental) and sold as accessory. AFAIK somewhat recently more than one original Autocycle has surfaced with the aluminum stem.
