Hi All,

Is there any way to reduce the play on a Bendix RB2 coaster brake hub? I've had this nice hub in storage for years. Finally got around to cleaning and greasing it, and mounting it on a rim. It just seems to have more play than other brakes I've ridden, about a full quarter of a turn. Any way to tighten it up?

thanks,
-Mike

that sounds about normal for a bendix rb2, the internals for braking are basically a gear rotates on a threaded shaft, moving forward pushing the brake shoes to the hub. if there is anything contributing to a delay in braking its going to be sloppy bearing adjustments, if theres no side to side slop then there is probably not going to be any adjustment to make a difference. maybe new brake shoes would help, but if its just a matter of wanting the brake to engage quicker (less rotation) there is not much to do about it.

your actual gearing would have something to do with it but then your going to lose some of your top speed in the process.
