Shimano 3 Speed Shifter (Hub Compatability?)

I'm thinking of adding a vintage Shimano 3 speed (333 Click Stick) shifter to one of my bikes. Am I correct in assuming that this shifter only works with Shimano hubs? Does it work with the newer Shimano Nexus 3-speed hubs as well?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on other cabling supplies I might need (pullies, etc)?

It'll work, I'm running a 333 Twist-Grip to a Nexus coaster hub on this bike. Only thing is, instead of 1-2-3 = L-N-H, 1-2-3 = H-N-L.

Thanks for the insight! I guess I should look for a 333 hub if I want the shifting order to stay intact. Right now I have the 333 shifter, but no hub.

Does anyone know if a Sturmey Archer or Bendix 3-speed hub will link up to a Shimano shifter?
