Skiptooth chain help...so frustrated

Long story short, got a bike off a friend that had a skiptooth chain, sprocket, wheels etc and sold the chain, sprocket, and crank thinking I'd upgrade with brand new parts.

Recently had a change of heart and started buying replacements. The original sprocket was a 24t so I bought another and found the chain I bought doesn't reach. Then bought a 22t sprocket thinking less teeth would help, still doesn't reach. The chain I bought, and all others I can find, have no more than 46 links. Do they come in more than that?

Usually you need 55-57 links. You add extra links to your chain. It is a bit more difficult than with a modern chain due to their width, but it isn't too difficult.

Figured that. Guess I'll be on the lookout for another chain. Just striked me a strange that i can't find one that fits without having to modify it.

On another note, if anyone has some skiptooth links laying around I'll gladly take them off your hands. Would need 10 at the most, I'd hate to buy a whole chain for just a couple links. Thanks!
