I am build a stretch cruiser right now. I stuck though on what size rims and tires to put on it. The frame is powder coated BLACK with a silver sparkle clear coat. Its crazy shinny in the sun. I was thinking of putting the 3g rims that are copper color...with white walls.

WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIS AND TIRES????

Copper would look really good! I like to use 24 inch wheels and I prefer wide rims 80mm but you can achieve the same effect with regular rims and fat tires like thick bricks. Be sure to post up some pics of that paint job. I would love to see it.

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIS AND TIRES????

I agree that the copper colored rims w/white walls would look sharp on a black bike; IMHO adding copper colored pinstriping will carry the theme and integrate the overall look of the bike. 24-inch rims w/24X3 or 3.5 white walls look awesome on stretches.

Please, post pics!

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIS AND TIRES????

The theme of the bike is going to be Detroit Tiger colors and decals. I have an insert for a tank that will either be ornage or flat black with the orange old english D that the Tigers use. I was thining 26" rims..there is a guy in town that has the copper color 26" rims. guess we shall see..pics coming soon

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIS AND TIRES????

picked up the copper 3g rims today...26" with nice whitewalls. Should be a good looking match for this bike. Hope to have photos soon

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIMS and tires???

So I discovered yet another problem. Will continue to post a topic in another forum but can anyone tell me why it is you can find forks like the ones on this bike..yet NO ONE has Threadless clamps for1"???.? This is why I stay away from local bikes shops...the ones in this area are total D.B.s. I see the forks..I ask do you have a clamp to fit it?..they so oh sorry..just sold out..they are easy to find they say..yet I have looked all day..not one in this world apparently. I know why I shop on line..no tax and less JA's

Re: STRETCH CRUISER RIMS and tires???

Those copper colored rims look outstanding and as far as a seat color – a Brooks B67 Standard in Honey w/matching leather grips would IMHO complement those cool rims. http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/saddles/brooks-b66.html

You might want to order from Sheldon Brown, this is an exceptional bike shop with an extensive inventory.

You can get a stem adapter which is basically a split sleeve that lets you use a 1 1/8 stem on the 1 inch steerer tube.

Great looking seat...it's exactly what this bike needs..BUT..not paying that much for a seat. They look good but when my rear is on it no one will see it anyway. Thanks for the heads up on the bike shop..I may use them sometime

You’re welcome; keep us posted on the progress you make on the build!
