I picked up this JCPenney tandem over the weekend. Just tubes and a light cleanup required.

Nice tandem. I like the handlebars. Haven't really seen mini-apes for both people on a tandem.

Does the rear wheel look like it's heavy duty?

To me, the spokes look like they're heavy duty.

Yes, it has heavy duty spokes. Not as heavy as I've seen on others. I had a Rollfast tandem a couple years ago and that one had even thicker spokes.

I currently have a Rollfast tandem and the spokes are exactly what you speak of.

cool find there. id go out and try to find me a tandem this spring, but where would i park it? looks like yours is in great condition too. actually was unaware jc penny's put out bikes. wonder who actually made those for them.
