No surprises or secret reason why I have a hinging banana seat. A door hinge from 1873 just happened to be the best way for me to attach the nanner to the seatpost. :D

So the seat is finally secured to the seatpost.

I think my Western Flyer X-53 fender spear will work perfectly as a sissy bar toppper.

I picked up this Western Flyer X-53 rear fender spear a couple of years ago.

Here is a pic of how they were used on the X53s

I decided to play around and see how it would work as the topper for my sissy bar on my atypical X53 build.

Not too bad for a part that can fetch over $100. :D
At this point the whole floating sissy bar is just taped together. I still need to determine the assembly method.

Haven't decided if I am going with a chainguard or not.
Tested a couple of chainrings.
If I go guardless, I am leaning towards the star chainring.

Then I tested this guard that I got from one of @Wildcat 's builds.

Then I went a step further and even tried some higgins skirts that I have. Not sure of any of this right now, but it was fun playing around with parts.

I kind of like the modified 'X' shaped chain ring. X-53...

The chain guard is cool, and works with the tank well. I like those tires so much that I hate to see any part of them hidden!

Your sissy rail topper makes a good point, however!:nerd:

Gorilla Glue for the Nanner Seat sissy bar!

I, too, like the closer bars. The tank looks awesome! (X53’s are the best anyway)

Always fun watching your progress-you have so many cool parrots... I mean parts to try on.

A

Aren`t you supposed to use that hinge with a 1873 banana seat?

Yeah, it's supposed to, but there arent any rules when building rat rods.

I'm a rebel.

No work on my build today other than raiding my stash for some more parts to test out.
I have decided to change the name of the build though.
"Western Sizzler X-53" is the new name. More to come on the reason for the new name.
