Will 26" wheels fit on this bike?

I got a schwinn swindler about a month ago. I already put some new handlebars on and now i'm looking for some wheels. I found some 144 spoke wheels that i really like but they are 26". The current ones say 27.5". Also, I am thinking about getting a bent springer fork.

You would think it would not be a problem to go down in size, just watch the width of tire / rim.

...and watch the length of your cranks, b/c you're gonna sink down roughly 3/4".... don't want any pedal strike, right? I'm not going to even address any impact on the bike's handling b/c, well....
