I have a Shimano 3CC, 3-speed Coaster hub. This shifter is a Shimano built for a 5-speed derailler. Any chance they'll play well together?

I looked closer at the pictures, and it appears that the shifter has the Sears Roebuck logo that is on my Spyder. And the green Shimano card says 333, so does it mean that it's really from a 3-speed?

This shifter would be perfect if it worked. Someone let me know ASAP. THANKS! :)

Hmmm. Ask the guy if it's "Indexed"? Seems to me that a 5Spd Derailluer and a 3 Spd hub would have different amount of movement per cable movement? Basicaly, Shitmano (no typo) is 2:1. Meaning it pulls twice as much cable as the der. moves. Where's as Sram, uses 1:1.

If it is "Friction" You might be able to use it, when shifting your hub you would have to go off of feel. That may be bad on your hub and shorten its life, blah, blah, blah... Hope this all makes sense.

If I were you and I could get it for a good price, I might just buy it to have it!

Shimano used the 333 on some 5 and 10 speed systems. I had a 5spd 333 system. I am shifting with a friction shifter. On another bike, I have a 3spd Fitchel and Sachs Torpedo hub being shifted by a 333 stick shift from an Iverson Dragstripper. The shifter is indexed and sometimes it takes some wiggling to find the right gear.

here are other to looks at for your Shimano hub and reasonable priced

Thanks for the info guys! I have contacted Jim at mostlymusclebikes.com and he said that one of those went into the museum and the other wouldn't work, but he would look and see what he has around, I guess only 20% of his stuff actually gets listed. I am going to have my setup soon in one way or another.
