Just get a bigger building.
 I wish that would help but it's about available time and energy
The list I posted are just the bikes that need work

I am actually downsizing. I just unloaded 6 bikes this week so now I am in the teens on bike count. LOL. Fortunately/unfortunately, I have some cash and I'm trolling Craigslist again. My next project I think is going to be to start on my Mead, Just going to clean it gently:

Sweet bike! good plan..
I've went cold turkey from Craigslist about 2 months ago...

Re: No More Bikes!

If you ever want to send a frame my way, I will be glad to take it  I could use a frame for next years build off

Well I've got plans them all and I have to stretch them out for a year

If you figure out 16b, make sure you post to tell us all how you did it!!
I told my wife what I wrote and she "kinda" laughed, kinda not
The tank bike has been apart for about 2 years now
and I trying to apply the "1 year rule" to move ahead

With Her Eliminator, I just went ahead one day and said;
"I picked up this color that you said you liked and I'm going to paint it today"
Lucky I had to get to done for her grand nephew coming to town :D
Maybe artificial deadlines that are not of your doing will help (bike shows or group rides)

She also said "Hands off the $5 bike, that all mine"

Re: No More Bikes!

Your 5 dollar bike is a Huffy, and has the cool mag sprocket. #16 is a Snyder made bike and #17 is AMF made. The 2 Hercules look like Birmingham Hercules, pre-Raleigh takeover, although your forks look like the later Hercules.

Re: No More Bikes!

Good luck trying to keep the new bike bug from biting, nice stash by the way. How did you manage to get your wife into digging bikes? I can't get mine interested in anything but going to the beach and cleaning. :?

Thanks for the info Wildcat! Now I know it is a Huffy Montclair
My wife reminded me again that it's hers to build, think it's going to be a running joke
The Hercules says English Lightweight and has Raleigh components on it so maybe post-Raleigh?
Check below for update
Interesting about the Western Flyer, I was thinking Murray because of the twin top tubes
Could never figure out the ~mid60's Hawthorne Tank bike (twin top tubes again :D ) so thanks!

I'm going to try really hard to do it. Saw a huge sign in a bike shop yesterday that said "50% off" and I kept driving
In the "old days" (before me) She used to not have a car so she rode herself and her son around all over.
She likes the styles and freedom to customize. She picked out the redwalls, seat and apes for "her" Western Flyer (#17)
Sometimes she has hand circulation issues so I just keep trying to change them up until so feels comfortable
Also she is a runner (I used to run more too but arthritis :x ) so its fun to build fast bikes for her :D
It's great that your wife is riding to the beach and cleaning (!!) sounds like a keeper to me

Well a good update, I've got 2 done kinda

Switched up my Wife's Hercules (#5) because she is starting to ride it a lot more and a lot faster :D
Thought I'd go with a rear tire that matches the front ( 1.25 for the 1.5) to make it roll easier
Took the VO Left banks off the JUP and put in a roadie stem to allow her to sit up straighter yet have more hand positions
Put a nice SRAM PC1 nickel chain and silver hub sprocket (for better efficiency and looks)
Thought all that was left was the bell until I took it for a ride, the BB clunks, Arghhh!
Plan to pull apart my Hercules to see how it works and probably swap it out,
(was planing on trying a VO Grand Cru thread less on mine anyways) but it's not catastrophic yet
So before and after (rather subtle) BTW: I was able to drop it down another lb so now 23.5 lbs :D :D
Before
IMG_7328II.jpg

After
IMG_7352II.jpg

Before
IMG_7329II.jpg

After
IMG_7354II.jpg

Threw a set of VO Montmartre bars on JUP for now, they work fine

Then I convinced my wife to take her 20" Eliminator to the Mpls Messaround next weekeknd
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61241
So I got a (somewhat) bigger tire for rear (maxxis Hookworm 1.9 to Schwalbe Fat Frank 2.125)
It looks a little better but still needs a really fat tire yet
Put the seat up from her grandNephew riding it, added chrome seat post
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=51106&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Eliminators&start=45
With the higher riding position, she was stretching too much to reach the bars
So I swapped in a more traditional but still kinda stylish chrome steel stem. Finally got the head badge on too
So we are both set for next weekend's Messaround :D :D

IMG_7391II.jpg

My Wife want to put some kind of sticker on the chain guard saying "Cheery Bomb"
I leave that up to her
She took it out for a ride and came back huffy ad puffing and said she got it going fast :D :D
Should have seen her face when I tried popping wheelies with it  (Can't ride one quite yet though)

So 15 more to last me until next build off, think I'll make it?
Thanks for looking
Steve

Thought I’d update this thread while I plan my next bike work on Christmas break
VBB, I'll have to check if to see if you ever got an Eliminator

So here is an update of the one I got done since I posted this...

1. Aluminum Winter. Got it stripped, polished and clear coated. Now I have my deep snow single speed :D
17Dec12003.jpg

13. FIL’s Bike is done until spring. I’ll swap out the smooth tires then
IMG_8019II.jpg

8. Wife’s Eliminator
Plan to switch up my Wife’s Eliminator again but I’m going to count it as done (for now)
Buy a normal 20” aluminum front wheel
Buy a 20x1.75 whitewall on front
Bought a nice wide NOS Whitewall slick (about 2.25” tread)
Found some old white grips and white pedals
Bought a white Banana seat
Was trying some white tires but then I found the WW slick
IMG_8146II.jpg

4. Wife’s Spaceliner
Forgot I got this one done
Like the wider tire up front and put a french headlight for looks
Think maybe my wife's imported aluminum french chain guard might look good yet (started polishing already)
IMG_7683II.jpg

7. My Eliminator
Inspired to get done by Freddie F and knowing that The Little Guy can ride Mag Ray now
This one is going together next week!!
Bought a 5.5” new 1 pc crank set (sick of looking for and finding used bent ones)
Need to get a new crank bearing set or clean up a good older one
Going with a 48 tooth standard chain ring
Put a chain on it and the eliminator style chain guard
Install the shifter, trim the cable and install it
The sissy bar wound up on my Wife's bike
24inMockupII16Feb12.jpg

9. Puch Sears
Bought some nice Continental City Ride Blackwalls that I can install now
Would like to find a more positive shifter so will keep looking around

17. Western Flyer
Strip off the paint and think about a plan for it (new fork for sure)

6. My Hercules
My wife just ordered some parts from Velo Orange and needed an over $100 purchase
No problem, got a threadless BB and Uno aluminum seat post coming

10. Schwinn racer, going to keep the plan to myself until I’m ready to build
(Looking forward to gettin' this idea out of my head.)

I missed not doing a bike to give away but I'll do one for a birthday or something...

Maybe I’ll try to spoke a wheel on vacation.
I’ve got a SA 3 speed that needs rebuilding and new rim
RustyK said he would loan me his truing machine :D

Plan to do a lot of riding during the daylight too
Haven't bought another bike so it's working

Thanks for looking
Steve

I just boxed up all my bikes for the move.
Well over 30......(counting parts frames and junko frames of course)
The wifey says it looks like we have started abducting neighborhood children

Looks like you have plenty to keep you busy! I too am going to try & not buy anymore bike projects & concentrate on finishing my 48 Chev. I do have a couple bikes that I have all the parts for that I may clean up & put together. A 20" skip tooth girls bike for my grand daughter & a 24" girls Jet Pilot for my daughter. No new (old) bikes for "pick" for a while.

Keep the great photography coming, no matter what you do!

Thanks Pick!
Your 48 Chev is very cool. Thanks for posting pics.
I can't wait to see your daughter and grand daughter's bikes :)

Staring to get going, got 2 wheel sets and tire together.
The basement is finally not frigid and it's easier to get things done.

I'll start a thread for the Western Flyer but I'll a pic here when I get the white tires/wheels on my wife's Eliminator (have to adjust the hubs first;))

Getting a bit crazy with this combo...

Mpls, I feel you man, I'm at 21 bikes and really want to get down to 16.

What's red and white all over?

You know it ZygoteLittle! ;)
Thanks IIFIFM LOL, Good luck with your herd
Here is my List I've trying to get honed down
BikeListFeb2014.jpg

Finally felt better this weekend and got some stuff done.
I tried a similar tire combo on my last Build off bike,
and didn't like the amount of drag the Bontrager Hank had.
Skipton clued me in, when we were riding in Chicago, to go with a higher pressure tire.
So I bought a good quality set of Schwalbe Kojaks that I can pump up more (2.0 and 1.35).
Think this set is going on a Schwinn, they look great with white rims...
IMG_0441II.jpg

Here's one for you Pick:
I first posted white tires for my Wife's Eliminator in Dec of 2012
It's not completely done but getting really close (unlike the basement walls LOL)
My Wife is going to put some red/wife graphics and a cherry bomb on it :)

Thanks for Looking
