How to remove chrome?

I have few parts that don´t fit to the design because of the chrome, so it needs to go.
Painting over is NOT an alternative.
So, which way to go?
 
I found that heat....I mean really high heat works. MAP gas (yellow tank) is the highest heat or temperature portable tank torch you can get. Just be aware of the flakes as the chrome starts to deteriorates. After you heat treat it (touch the material). you can use a corse wire brush or even a media blaster to remove the remaining chrome plating.
