Remember the silly paratroopers? We used to add a little more weight to them and replace the parachute with a hankerchief

Were they all "Star Trek" guns or start that way ? I may have been playing with hand me downs as a kid but I thought they were pretty generic, .50 at K-mart sort of thing. I guess theyre a choking hazard now, all I see on the shelves are Nerf or big foam donut shooting wannabe's.

I think there where generic ones and Star Trek ones. I just remembered them as being Star Trek related.

Micro Machines,

I can't believe I'm not a kid anymore, sometimes I wish I were just so I could spend more time with my brothers. But Micro Machines were so fascinating to me as a kid I would ask my parents for them every Christmas until they stopped making them. I kept most of them still in the packages but some I played with. I still have all of them and the last time I checked I had upwards to 3,000. And yes, I still want to buy more but the wife says no.

omg micro machinessss i loved those things. i had a lot of them and even had some of the hot wheels versions.
thanks for sharing the picture brought back memories of a kid when i used to launch these with rubber bands wrapped around the roof into my brothers legos (yeah i was kinda a mean brother but ti was in love lol)
i am 40 and still buy hot wheels and matchboxes but i gear towards the 60's and 70's ones and some 80's ones as far as micro machines sadly i lost all mine in a fire when i was a kid. i miss them they were fun

I had some of these, I was a Legos, transformers, star wars, Gi Joe, Mask, He man kid in the 80s. Had some hotwheels too.

Anyways, the 1 toy I remember that no one mentioned yet.

Those weird little gelatin toys or whatnot that grew when you put them in water. I used to have a ton of those, toss em in the toilet, let them get big, the flush them down and get it clogged. Dad loved them!

Remember this silly drinking bird

So, did anyone else duct tape on model rocket engines to their hot wheels?

I also took apart all of my Gi Joes, switched around the various pieces and parts, melted, sanded, cut and painted and made my own figures.

I was playing around with my own Xmen and WildC.A.T.S figures back in the early 90s back before those comics had any toylines.

Always mod, never stock.

Used to use the igniters for rocket engines in the lids of milk jugs and soda bottles ... filled with gas ....

I will add as a disclaimer I blew my eye out with a bottle rocket at 8 years old and have no feeling in my right hand from a separate incident .... don't do what I have done.

I scored a GoBots from 1985 with the box at Goodwill yesterday, pics to follow later. Anybody remember those?

You made me remember why i read better than I hear!

I actually had an RC car that had a horn function, I cut the round tail lights out of it and put two model rocket engines in it and wired the rockets to the horn function of this RC car so when I'd push the button on the remote it was like nitrous....or at least that was the plan.... The body caught fire and blew off, we never found the rest of it.

Probably my favorite "TOY" when I was a kid was my home made go-kart. It was literally a front end from a junk lawn mower, no suspension at all, bed frame angle iron all BOLTED together, a live axle rear end I got from the scrapyard, a horribly inadequate band brake, and a 440 snowmobile engine with a sticky throttle. No roll cage, no seat belt, no helmet, no suspension, hardly any brakes, no exhaust other than a piece of pipe I stuck on it to make it louder, but I had chrome air filters so it was ok. I'm lucky I survived but it was a blast and probably what fed my inner hot rod bug till I was older and started getting into cars.
