    Swingbike seatpost

Thanks a lot meeba and for the information and photos 8ball! I'm still missing a bunch of measurements, but it's a start. All between brackets are guesses. I'm not familiar with US tubing so things may be off. PDF file I may be going into a bit too much detail here, but I figure there...

    Swingbike seatpost

Hey guys, I've recently bought an original Swingbike and it's in so-so shape. Worse, the original seat post is missing. I haven't had any luck finding one, so I'm considering having one made. If somebody could give me accurate measurements along with some photos of the original, that'd be...

    Swing Bike

It's not the same, seatpost measures 19.5 mm (3/4 inch?) and the stem is 22.2 mm. What size seatpost did you use? Previous owner of my Swingbike simply welded a tube in the rear triangle and welded a seat clamp to that - crappy solution. I got it out with no damage.. Banana seat was too far...

    Swing Bike

Nice work on the seatpost! I'm also restoring/repairing a Swingbike and am also missing the original seatpost. This method will make quite a good replacement. If you have some money to burn, the locking pin is also for sale in eBay at the moment.

    Cargobikes

Guys, thanks for the great replies! Great resource. That thing is huge! Yes, well aware! Quite different from what we're doing here, but a beautifully simple bike! 8) Glad you joined in! While we are both in the business of transporting stuff/kids on bikes, the market here in Holland...

    Cargobikes

Coming half year or so I'll be designing a cargo bike for a major bike company in Holland (30,000+ bikes a year) that is to be brought on the market in 2013. Meant for transporting kids to school, groceries, etc. Two wheeled, cargo in front of rider but behind front wheel. I have complete...

    Board tracker

I saved the fork for a next project. It'll find it's way on a bike sometime. :D Haven't done much the past few weeks. Painted the seatpost and the tank. Turned out really good, much stronger than the paint on the wheels. Guess that teaches me to always go to a proper paint shop and get some...

    Columbia springer fork, play, rattle

Good idea! So there should be a little play? I could imagine... the fork being about 60 years old.

    Columbia springer fork, play, rattle

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with a rattling Columbia fork that has a bit of play in it. I think there might be a little piece missing, but am not sure. Is there supposed to be a nylon ring or something in the part with the arrow? Best picture I have of the complete fork: Any help would...

    The "While waiting" build..

Where did you find those seat posts? Would love to get my hands on one or two... Great stuff, stripped city bikes are some of the most fun bikes around!

    Board tracker

After some time with a grinder the tank fits, but still not very well. I'll have to use some rubber to close the edges against the frame. On the plus side: Finished the seat post. The tank and seat post are painted, but no pictures yet. :)

    Board tracker

Making it wider is an interesting idea... But I have no use for a larger gas tank, won't be riding it any big distances. I do have to make it fit properly though, it's all kinds of crooked at the moment. Have no experience painting over chrome, so I'm just following what other people are...

Haha that's awesome! This needs a video.

    Board tracker

Picked up a nice tank that Badmuller helped get to me. :D Test fitting. Probably going to make it black, then fit a smaller tank in it for the engine. :)

Schwinn bikes ( post pics here )

It's a Columbia springer, the spring extends, allowing the back arm of the fork to move upwards. Pictures were taken at a show for my school, I entered it as a course. Basically, free grades. :D
